Pre-Arrangements and Pre-Paid Funerals
Grahams Funerals Services
If you have had the experience of having to arrange a funeral you will appreciate the large number of tasks to be done and decisions to be made, all in a short timeframe.
So why not take a positive approach and plan your own funeral in advance, lessen the responsibilities for the family at the time, give them comfort in the fact that your wishes have been expressed and that the decisions can be implemented without them worrying that wrong decisions may be made.
The FDANZ “My Life My Funeral” is a free kit which assists people to plan their own funeral. In the kit you will find a set of helpful and informative brochures. Completing these make clear your preferences about your funeral including:
- Your choice of funeral company/director
- Burial or Cremation and, in the case of the latter, the final disposition of your ashes
- The venue for your funeral service
- Your wish for whom to officiate or be pallbearers
- Details of organisations, sporting or professional groups, clubs etc who you would like notified
- Your choice of hymns or music to be sung or played at the service
- Specific wishes important to you.
There may also be things that you definitely don't want at your funeral and these can be made known.
All details are recorded and held by Grahams Funeral Services in the strictest confidence.
The FDANZ Funeral Trust allows your pre-arranged funeral to be paid for in advance to remove the financial burden from your family.
The plan operates under a Trust Deed that stes out the rukes and conditions of the plan. Funds are held in the Trust by the Westpac Bank and payments can be made as a lump sum or by installments.
Pre-paid funerals up to $10,000 are currently excluded from asset testing (under current government policy) when assessing eligibility for a subsidy for long-term residential care for the elderly.
